ANCIENT PATHWAYS

Books and discussions on Prehistory

Book

Travel back in time 10,000 years, to Mesolithic Britain. A land of great forests and receding coastlines, a land of hunters and gatherers, warriors and shamans. Wolves, bears and huge wild cattle roam this untamed country. Magic, monsters and powerful spirits of earth, sky and water seem no less real to its people.
There has been trouble between their families but Garetto, a young hunter, is determined to marry
Harenshi – the woman he loves. All they want is to stay together, and stay with their own tribe.
Garetto is challenged to journey, alone, to a hostile land in the depths of a freezing winter, to kill a
dangerous yet elusive wild beast – the giant stag.

It is a near-impossible task, but only when he returns with the sacred antlers will the chief allow Garetto to marry his daughter. Garetto accepts the challenge, hoping also to win the prestigious name of ‘Great Hunter’.

But the chief breaks his promise, equally determined that Garetto - empty-handed or not - must never return to his people. This act of betrayal - and the sudden appearance of a mysterious holy man - has fateful consequences for the whole tribe....

The Great Hunter, by Kel Paisley is available on Amazon - both in EBook & paperback.

About

Kel Paisley

Kel Paisley runs a cleaning company in Hertfordshire, England. He also hopes to be a successful author and has recently finished his first novel: The Great Hunter.

Born in Scotland but raised in southeast England, Kel Paisley is the survivor of a long-term, energy-sapping and ongoing medical condition (which is, however, non-infectious). So his biggest achievement to date is probably to keep going whilst remaining in relatively good physical and mental health, and retaining a fantastic sense of humour. His outlook on life is philosophical. Paisley is also a firm believer in the right to free speech.

A lifelong history nut and fan of historical fiction, Paisley is especially keen on prehistory. His incurable curiosity about prehistoric times, about our distant past - along with more personal reasons - led him to write The Great Hunter. This is the first book of what will hopefully be a series: Legends From The Dreamtime.
